Wis 7; 22--8:1

Ps 118: 89, 90, 91, 130, 135, 175

Lk: 17:20-25

Jesus gives us the message that the kingdom of God is within us. Where ever there is peace, joy, happiness, harmony, healing and wholeness, the kingdom of God is there. In Mt.10:7-8 we read, “As you go, peach this message: The kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” So if we can experience the healing of the sick, dead being raised up, leprosy getting cured and the demons are driven out, we can say that the kingdom of God is near.

In October 2016 we had made a visit to Anandvan in Warur, near Nagpur in Maharastra. It is a leprosy rehabilitation centre where there are over 3000 people staying together. Out of them, 1500 are leprosy cured or getting cured. Others are differently abled and invalids. Most of these people are engaged in different kinds of works like art and crafts, greeting card making, bag manufacturing, sweater knitting, steel frication, carpet making, weaving, etc. They who had been abandoned by the families and friends are given refuge and are leading a dignified life with the satisfaction of earning for their livelihood. Many have their families and their children are learning in the school in the campus which is up to 12th and   in Arts and Science College.  It is a centre started by Baba Ampte and being continued by his son Prakash Ampte. The name Anandvan – forest of joy is really fitting as it gives joy to the over 3000 inmates and joy and inspiration for those who visit them. It is a form of the kingdom of God.
